Acne
2010-12-17Acne is a chronic skin disease, which manifests itself in various kinds of skin eruptions: non-inflammatory (open comedones i.e. blackheads and closed comedones i.e. whiteheads) and inflamed lesions (papules, pustules and cysts). They commonly affect young peple – 60-80% of the young in puberty period. Peak incidences of the disease occur in girls about 14-17, in boys at a bit later age of 16-19. Acne lesions usually recede within several years, but sometimes they persist much longer even in a persons late thirties. Acne is a serious cosmetic problem as it can lead to disfiguring scars.
